Mobile App Makes Shopping Simple, and Dangerous

October 24, 2014 (New York, New York) – Dash Hudson, a new mobile commerce company transforming street style shopping, today announced the launch of the first app that lets you shop the most coveted pieces, from the most stylish people on Instagram, directly from your phone.

Shop Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s look directly from the Dash Hudson app.

Dash Hudson features the best celebrity, model and amateur images from Instagram, each day. Launching with over 1,400 brands, every look and product on Dash Hudson can be purchased instantly and directly through the app.

“Similar to how people pored over pictures of Kate Moss in glossy magazines, they now obsess over photos of Cara Delevingne on their phone,” said Thomas Rankin, CEO of Dash Hudson. “Customers want a fresh, visceral experience, and expect mobile shopping to be beautiful and simple. From discovery to purchase, Dash Hudson makes this experience effortless.” Every item, from over 1,400 brands, can be purchased in just a few touches.

Founders Thomas Rankin and Tomek Niewiarowski conceived of Dash Hudson after frustration with their own mobile shopping experiences. They found that while their favorite photos were on Instagram, Tumblr and Pinterest, the products they wanted were scattered across mobile apps requiring multiple accounts and with complicated checkout processes. They saw the opportunity to build something new for a more sophisticated generation of shoppers.

“It’s an elegant solution. We killed the shopping cart so you can get anything from your favourite brands in a few touches. It’s a new experience, but with the same things you expect from a traditional retailer – like free shipping and returns. That denim on denim outfit Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is lounging in? Get it in seconds. Simplicity is what makes people fall in love with us.”

When a customer wants to purchase an item on Dash Hudson, they simply enter their shipping and credit card information once, and then tap to pay. Each subsequent purchase, across any of the 1,400 brands they carry, can then be purchased in just a single step. Dash Hudson handles the order processing with the product provider, and bundles items when possible.

The company had previously announced a $400,000 round of angel financing in June led by former Groupon CTO, Paul Gauthier. Dash Hudson is available now on iPhone, and will be launching on Android and web later this year.
