Volta is the Atlantic Canada host for SportsHack 2015, coming to Halifax November 27-29!

What’s SportsHack? The largest sports-related hackathon in North America.

Hackers, programmers, developers and designers will participate simultaneously from Halifax, Toronto and Vancouver to create whatever sports app/software they’re passionate about and keep their IP. Any sports technology is welcome!

SportsHack has partnered with the CFL to challenge teams to create real world technologies that teams can keep. National winners will win cash prizes, tickets to CFL games and help bringing their new product to market.

We’re also hosting a free prep event on Thursday, November 19. A team from IBM will answer your questions, and give you a sneak peek at what type of data will be provided to help you create something awesome.

Hackers can create something interactive for any sport, but will be specifically given CFL data to work with. This data includes:

• CFL play stats and play by play information,
• CFL video,
• Stadium Digital data,
• Social Media Data,
• Traffic Data from ThinkDataWorks, and
• Weather Data from the Weather Network.

 

So, what are you hacking for? Three national winners will prizes:

First prize:

• $4,500 cash,
• Support services to bring your hack to market,
• Time to meet and connect with the host partners of your choice,
• An opportunity to work with the CFL and mentors, and
• Four tickets to the 2016 Grey Cup game in Toronto!

 

Second prize:

• $2,500 cash, and
• Support services to bring your hack to market.

 

Third prize:

• $1,000 cash.
