Volta launches Ecosystem Impact Awards to celebrate Atlantic Canadian changemakers
To recognize and celebrate the leaders and supporters who are helping to nurture and grow the startup ecosystem in Atlantic Canada, Volta, Canada’s East Coast Innovation Hub, has launched the Ecosystem Impact Awards + Summer Party, in partnership with RBC.
“We all have a role to play in creating a more innovative and prosperous future for Atlantic Canada,” said Jesse Rodgers, CEO of Volta. “The Ecosystem Impact Awards are our way of celebrating the individuals and organizations that are contributing to this goal in a meaningful way, and serve as a source of inspiration for those who want to drive growth in the region.”
The Ecosystem Impact Awards + Summer Party will take place on Thursday, June 6, beginning at 5:30pm in the Volta Event Space. Nominees must have a home base in either Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island or Newfoundland to be eligible for an award. Submit your nominations before May 15 at 11:59pm.
“The innovation industry is critical to the future economic strength of our region,” said Chris Ronald, RBC Regional President, Atlantic Provinces. “RBC is excited be part of the inaugural Ecosystem Impact Awards and we look forward to celebrating the people and businesses who are creating an impact locally and globally.”
Winners will be announced in the following five categories:
Catalyst Award recognizes an organization that has helped create cohesion and growth in the Atlantic Canadian startup ecosystem. This can be exhibited through inter-organizational relationship building, helping with the growth of the startup community, reducing or removing barriers for startups to succeed, and more.
Positive Impact Award recognizes a founder or company that has developed and implemented solutions for social, cultural and/or environmental issues, to the benefit of the community at-large.
Community Leader Award recognizes a company that has directly impacted the growth and development of the entrepreneurial landscape in Atlantic Canada. This organization is dedicated to the startup community, and gives back through the donation of time, mentorship and serving as a resource in a peer to peer environment.
Corporate Supporter recognizes a corporate partner who has been a gracious supporter of the tech startup community in Atlantic Canada. This dedicated partner actively boosts the development of our rapidly-growing technology sector by donating their time and resources, while providing mentorship, training and more.
Disruptor Award is for an up-and-coming business in Atlantic Canada that has experienced significant entrepreneurial success over the past year. Success can be measured in a number of ways, including; innovative technology, solving a technological need, capturing a new sector or market with, disruption of a service or market segment, applications of product or service and traction in, or ability to obtain traction in the international marketplace.
