NETWORK AND COMMUNITY PROGRAMS & EVENTS

VOLTA COHORT

Volta Cohort helps early stage, high calibre founders attract and secure venture capital sooner. This new program provides investments of $25,000 to up to five companies each cohort through a fund co-founded by Volta, BDC Capital and Innovacorp, with the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency supporting day-to-day operations and programming.

VOLTA ACADEMY

Volta Academy helps future Founders go from a big idea to a viable, tech-enabled startup. With the support of Volta mentors and Founders, participants will learn how to test and validate their idea, outline an MVP and grow a scalable startup. This program is meant for individuals who want to take their idea to the next level and learn the basic fundamentals of how to grow a startup.

OFFICE HOURS

Network Members and Residents receive access to free one-on-one consultations from experts in legal, marketing, funding, and more.

WOMEN TAKING OVER THE WORLD WITH TECH (WTWT)

Women Taking Over the World With Tech supports women Founders, leaders and entrepreneurs in the technology sector through events, workshops, and social events. The goal of WTWT is for participants to find a new skill, a new mentor, and a broader network and more resources to start, launch or grow their tech startups.

LUNCH + LEARNS

Volta hosts industry experts to lead group learning sessions (witch free lunch) on a variety of relevant topics, such as marketing, sales, customer success, product design, software sales, growth strategy and more. Check out our Events Calendar to see a full list of events coming up this month.

GAME JAMS

Game Jams bring together game developers to design and build new games and meet other game developers.

HOIST

Hoist is a tech club for teens aged 12 to 19 interested in coding, design, or entrepreneurship.

PITCH COMPETITIONS

Pitch Competitions are a great way for companies to practice their pitch and get feedback from peers and industry professionals.

DEMOCAMP

Democamp Halifax is designed to inspire those interested in learning what it takes to succeed in building and running a startup, as well as showcase projects of those who are already doing it.

RESIDENT PROGRAMS

ALLOTMENT PROGRAM

Residents can access a set amount of funds per year to assist them with the growth of their business. This includes hiring experts and/or training.

ALUMNI PROGRAM

The Alumni Program provides ongoing support to Alumni companies and encourages them to remain engaged.

BRANDING PROGRAM

Working with a Brand Strategist, resident companies build the framework for a strong brand.

EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP TRAINING

Working with an Executive Coach, founders receive the opportunity to learn how to improve their leadership and sales skills.

FOUNDER SOCIALS

Founders connect with other founders at exclusive meetups including founder chats, dinners and more.

VOLTA GLOBAL (SPONSORED BY MNP)

This program brings in a diverse group of speakers from across the globe to educate our community and learn from their experiences.

IN-HOUSE EXPERTS

Volta provides one-on-one sessions with in-house experts in branding, growth, funding strategy and more.

INVESTOR BREAKFASTS

In partnership with Scotiabank, Resident companies have the opportunity to meet and pitch to Angel Investors

MENTORSHIP

Volta connects founders with experts through direct introductions and networking events.

PEER 2 PEER GROUP

These groups bring resident and alumni community members together to share professional challenges and lessons learned.

SALES + PITCH TRAINING

Volta supports founders in the development of their sales and pitching skill sets by connecting them with world-class experts, hosting workshops and additional training opportunities.

SOCIALS

Volta hosts a number of socials and events throughout the year to engage community members and company employees.

USER TESTING PROGRAM

In partnership with Dalhousie University, Volta pairs computer science students with residents to serve as user testers for their technology

WORKSHOPS

Volta hosts a number of exclusive workshops for residents with topics ranging from customer discovery, grant writing, marketing, pitching and more.
