The Hardware Hackathon is coming to Volta! This is a 3 day marathon where participants get to turn their dreams into reality (or you know, create some hardware)! It will begin on the evening of Friday May 16th, 2014 where people will get to pitch their ideas and teams will be formed (It is ok to show up with an already formed team!). The next 40 hours or so will be for your team to build hardware! Beer, food and candy will be provided to keep the creative juices flowing!! Participants are welcome to bring a sleeping bag if they plan on sleeping… On Sunday May 18th teams will present their work to a panel of judges. Winners will then be announced and prizes awarded!
All hardware materials will be provided for free for the duration of the Hackathon (ie. osciloscope, soldering irons etc.). If you need anything exotic – bring your own. We will have 10-15 arduino units as well with wifi shields.
If you want to keep your newly built hardware, you will need to pay for the parts. Basically if you want to take it home, you have to pay so we can buy the parts for next year!!
You will have to sign a liability waiver before you start hacking (it is hardware after all).
Some of the project proposals so far:
– Volta company directory touch screen
– Arcade Machine
– Kegenator
– Banana Piano
– Roomba based drink delivery platform
– Unnamed home automation project
Don’t know much about Arduino? Well that’s ok! We’ll be holding a tutorial on Thursday May 15th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm to get everyone up to speed for the Hackathon.
