Startup Empire Mentors and Speakers Commit to spend time with participating companies
September 23rd
Halifax, NS – Volta, a Halifax startup house, announced today that the mentors and speakers have committed to spend one-on-one time with startups attending the Startup Empire Conference as part of the Mentor Zone.
Many activities will be happening at Startup Empire in order to ensure that the entrepreneurs and students attending get the advice and ideas they need to scale their companies. One such initiative is having experienced entrepreneurs from the community and guest speakers available to mentor individuals and/or companies at the conference. Mentor Zones will be semi private, and all throughout the venue for these office hour meetings.
Current list of confirmed Mentor Zone mentors includes names such as April Dunford, COO of Tulip Retail, Michael Litt, Co-Founder of VidYard, Patrick Hankinson, CEO and Founder of Compilr (acq. by Lynda.ca), Jevon MacDonald, Co-Founder of GoInstant (acq. by Salesforce), Greg Poirier, Chief Operating Officer at Livelenz Patrick Keefe, Partner of Build Ventures, Sandy Walsh, Developer at Rackspace Hosting, Jeff Thompson, Business Development at LiveOPs.
“We had to make sure that the companies are given sufficient opportunities to connect and interface with the speakers and mentors. We want them to create professional relationships that they will carry beyond the conference.” says Milan Vrekic, Executive Director at Volta.
For attendees travelling to Halifax from other cities, there will be a lot of complementing events, such as Mentorcamp on the 22nd of September and DemoCamp on the 24th of September, to make for an action-packed week.
