HALIFAX, NS (April 26, 2022) – Ten early stage Atlantic Canadian startups have been selected to pitch their business ideas at the tenth Volta Cohort Pitch Event on Wednesday, May 25.

The Volta Cohort Pitch Event is an opportunity for startups to pitch their idea for a chance to receive mentorship, resources and $25,0000 in investment as part of the year-long Volta Cohort program. Since Volta Cohort began in 2017, forty-four startups have received funding through the program, which continues to demonstrate its impact on the regional economy and startup ecosystem. To date, Volta Cohort companies as a whole have raised over $20 million in equity financing and secured over $5 million in revenue. Companies who continue to be in operation, are creating approximately 200 full-time jobs.

“The Volta Cohort program continues to support startups in our region, and is often the first stepping stone for these companies in raising significant VC financing rounds, participating in global accelerators such as Techstars, and continuing to grow and create jobs both on a regional and international level,” said Martha Casey, Chief Executive Officer at Volta. “We are looking forward to working with our partners ACOA, BDC Capital and Innovacorp to continue to support and work with these startups to help them grow, scale and succeed in Atlantic Canada and beyond.”
