Canada is home to more than 28,000 LGBT+ entrepreneurs. Collectively, they generate $22-billion in economic activity and employ more than 435,000 people – or the population of Halifax. In other words, LGBT+ business is big business.
When these innovative entrepreneurs are connected with corporations looking to advance corporate social responsibility by diversifying their supply chains – we are collectively reducing barriers, advancing LGBT+ entrepreneurship, and creating a truly inclusive economy, one connection at a time.
Join Ryan Nearing, Membership and Supplier Diversity Manager with Canada’s LGBT+ Chamber of Commerce, a national not-for-profit organization representing LGBT+ entrepreneurs, business owners, and allies, for a workshop on the Power of Supplier Diversity.
In this hour-long session, we’ll discuss the state of LGBT+ entrepreneurship in Canada. We’ll learn about supplier diversity – the concept of diverse-owned businesses getting certified as certified suppliers, and corporations internally championing diverse procurement processes.
Lastly, you’ll hear about Canada’s LGBT+ Chamber of Commerce’s work supporting LGBT+ entrepreneurs, business owners, and their allies – including educational programming on the LGBT+ tourism market, support for young entrepreneurs, and international business development opportunities.
Event Overview:
Presentation from Ryan Nearing, Canada’s LGBT+ Chamber of Commerce covering:
- Information about Canada’s LGBT+ Chamber of Commerce
- LGBT+ entrepreneurship in Canada
- The business case for supplier diversity
- Information on getting certified
- Success stories of LGBT+ certified suppliers.

Online Workshop: Growth Stages + Financing Rounds
Online Workshop: Growth Stages + Financing Rounds
March 16, 2021 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Zoom (register via Eventbrite)
REGISTER HERE
To prepare for equity financing, you need to know what is expected from you and why.
As venture capital becomes part of the financing mix, in the upcoming round or the ones after, understanding the inner workings of this specific asset class is crucial. From a distance, the valuation and timing of different equity financing rounds may seem like products from a magic box, however, there is more logic involved than you might think.
During these morning sessions (pick your preferred date), this logic is explained and participants will understand how to prepare for the next financing round. Led by Toon Nagtegaal, participants will be able to align their growth stages and execution plans accordingly.
Join us on Tuesday, Mar. 16 or Wednesday, Mar. 24 for a session on growth stages + financing rounds, led by Toon Nagtegaal. Register via Eventbrite below.
